What Will Happen to You When You Die?

You are going to die.

Yes, it is inevitable. Your life will come to an end. If there’s one statistic that’s true for everyone, it’s one out of every one person dies. Then what? Well, your eternal soul will go to one of two places—to heaven or hell.

“But what if I don’t believe in such a thing?” That doesn’t matter. You can say you don’t believe in Mack Trucks, but if you stand in front of one bearing down on you at 80 miles per hour, it will kill you, no matter what you believe.

Just as there is judgment in this lifetime, so there is a final judgment in the life to come. How can you know that on the day of your death, you will live forever with God in heaven and not perish under His wrath in hell? Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved.

Jesus said, “Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear Him who can destroy both body and soul in hell… Everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.”

Hebrews 9:27 says, “Just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for Him.”

You will die, and you will stand in judgment. “All have sinned,” and “The wages of sin is death. But the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,” when we understand the text.
