Are You Stupid?

WARNING: The following contains language not suitable for young viewers… especially if they’re Baptist.

Job 11:12 says, “A stupid man will get understanding when a wild donkey’s colt is born a man!” Proverbs 12:1 says, “Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.”

Isaiah 19:11 says, “The princes of Zoan are utterly foolish; the wisest counselors of Pharaoh give stupid counsel.” Jeremiah 4:22 says, “For my people are foolish, they know me not; they are stupid children; they have no understanding. They are ‘wise’ in doing evil! But to do good they know not.”

Jeremiah 10:21 says, “For the shepherds are stupid and do not inquire of the Lord; therefore they have not prospered, and all their flock is scattered.” Who is the stupid man but anyone acting contrary to the wisdom and knowledge of God. We find all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge in Jesus Christ our Lord.

Psalm 92 says, “How great are your works, O Lord! Your thoughts are very deep! The stupid man cannot know; the fool cannot understand this: that though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction forever; but you, O Lord, are on high forever.”

So to the church, the Spirit says, “Therefore do not be [stupid], but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:17), which we come to know when we understand the text.
