“Believe in yourself,” is the most common moral to just about every kids movie and TV show out there. And it’s not just for kids. This mantra is for adults, too!
Believing in yourself often means that if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything. But that’s not true. There are plenty of things you can’t do nor will never be. Many people have reached for dreams they never got, though they gave it everything they had.
Sometimes, in order to get what you want, you have to sacrifice something way more important than your dream. Like, your faith, or morality, or family, or someone’s life…

Proverbs 28:26 says, “Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool.” Jeremiah 17:5 says, “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart turns away from the Lord.”
Jesus never said believe in yourself. He said die to yourself. In Luke 9:23-25, He says, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses or forfeits himself?”
Jesus said, “Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,” (John 11:25) when we understand the text.
